Comic-Con 2009: Who's In?

With the schedule for San Diego Comic-Con ever so slowly making its way onto the official website (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are now up), I thought I'd ask once again this year: who's in for Comic-Con 2009?

Passes are once again impossible to purchase at this year's festival (with no on-site registration available for professions or press, no less), which boasts a lineup that includes panels for such series as Lost, True Blood, Chuck, Doctor Who, Flash Forward, V, Torchwood, 24, Bones, The Mighty Boosh, Eureka, Caprica, The Prisoner, Human Target, Dollhouse, Fringe, Psych, Stargate Universe, Smallville, Supernatural, Burn Notice, Robot Chicken, and a host of others. (Seriously, the list goes on and on this year.)

For my part, I'll be covering as many panels and press rooms as humanly possible and reporting from the convention as long as the WiFi connection holds. (My must-see panels this year: Lost, Caprica/BSG, True Blood, Doctor Who, The Mighty Boosh, and Entertainment Weekly's Wonder Women: Female Power Icons in Pop Culture with Elizabeth Mitchell, Kristin Bell, and Sigourney Weaver. Unfortunately, the Chuck panel lets out at the same time that Lost begins, making it rather tricky to negotiate...)

But I am curious to know: which panels are you attending and which are you most looking forward to? What are the must-have seats of this year's Comic-Con?

I'm really excited, this will be my first Comic-Con (I'm coming all the way from Boston).

I think I'm most excited for The Middleman panel and a chance to see Dollhouse "Epitaph One" in a room full of other fans.

I'm ecstatic about Comic-Con. It's my first venture to the grand convention and I'll be traveling from Miami, Florida.

I'll only be there on Friday - looking forward to the Bones and Dollhouse sessions. Plus, picking up my special Dollhouse Limited Edition Comic-Con Edition DVD and whatever swag/autographs/etc I can get before my flight that evening :)

I used to love Comic-Con but it's gotten too crazy. And while there are tons of great panels and amazing people there, it's nearly impossible to get into things and I just wind up feeling more frustrated then anything. So, this year I will not be attending but I am looking forward to your coverage!

As much as I'd love to arrange a Television Comic-Con meetup, I don't even know that I have time enough to eat or sleep this year! Though it would be great to meet up with readers at some point.

I'm jealous of all you guys going. I'll be there in spirit (or just sending voodoo curses to all you who can attend)
In stead I'll be sitting here job searching and hoping something falls into my lap.
Or maybe I'll get my ass in gear and start working on my TV pilot or my movie script.

I'm excited! Last year was my first time and I remember thinking it was lots of fun, even though I ended up totally exhausted.

LOST is my number one....everything else will be icing on the cake. :)

What's Done is Done: The Eternal Struggle Between Good and Evil on the Season Finale of "Lost"

Every story begins with thread. It's up to the storyteller to determine just how much they need to parcel out, what pattern they're making, and when to cut it short and tie it off. With last night's penultimate season finale of Lost ("The Incident, Parts One and Two"), written by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, we began to see the pattern that Lindelof and Cuse have been designing towards the last five seasons of this serpentine series. And it was only fitting that the two-hour finale, which pushes us on the road to the final season of Lost , should begin with thread, a loom, and a tapestry. Would Jack follow through on his plan to detonate the island and therefore reset their lives aboard Oceanic Flight 815 ? Why did Locke want to kill Jacob? What caused The Incident? What was in the box and just what lies in the shadow of the statue? We got the answers to these in a two-hour season finale that didn't quite pack the same emotional wallop of previous season

In Defense of Downton Abbey (Or, Don't Believe Everything You Read)

The proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating. Which means, if I can get on my soapbox for a minute, that in order to judge something, one ought to experience it first hand. One can't know how the pudding has turned out until one actually tastes it. I was asked last week--while I was on vacation with my wife--for an interview by a journalist from The Daily Mail, who got in touch to talk to me about PBS' upcoming launch of ITV's period drama Downton Abbey , which stars Hugh Bonneville, Dame Maggie Smith, Dan Stevens, Elizabeth McGovern, and a host of others.
