Blood tests. Nefarious lawyers. Hastily grabbed cash. Tom Irwin.
What do these things all have in common? For a start, they all appear in a scene from the upcoming Season Five premiere of ABC's Lost, airing January 21st.
In the first full footage from Season Five to date, we're treated to a glimpse into the daily home life of Kate Austen and Lil' Aaron, if their typical day just happens to include receiving a court order to provide blood samples. Yes, it seems as though someone has tipped off law firm Agostini & Norton about Kate not being Aaron's actual mother... and now they have obtained court permission to take samples from both Kate and Aaron to prove (or disprove) a DNA relationship between the two. (And the lawyers? Naturally, they refuse to disclose the identity of their client.)
Don't have a Dharma password? You can watch the clip in full after the jump.
Kate, naturally, slams the door in their faces--including partner Dan Norton (Tom Irwin) who likes to carry out the firm's dirty work, apparently--and tells them to come back with the cops... and then she ferrets out the stash of cash she hid in the wardrobe and a gun and packs their bags. (As she walks out of the house, she walks right past an adorable framed photo of Jack and Aaron.)
So just who tipped off the lawyers? Could it be that Jack had a crisis of conscience? Or, far more likely, is this just the opening salvo on a new war front as Sun makes her play? After all, she knows that Kate isn't Aaron's mother and, unlike Jack, has no romantic feelings for Kate. Plus, we did see Sun meet up with Charles Widmore in the Season Four finale. Could it be that the two have formed an alliance of sorts and that she is supplying him with inside information about the Oceanic Six?
The wait until January just got a little more difficult.

I still can't wait for the premier. But this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
