Nikki Finke is reporting that NBC has issued an eleventh hour reprieve for struggling drama Friday Night Lights, following a deal to share the series with DirecTV, and has renewed it for a third season.
(Several networks were said to be in the running for a second windowing of the sophomore drama including netlet the CW, TNT, and Comcast.)
"It's an innovative deal where NBC found a partner who will share costs and exhibition windows," a source told Finke.
That source will be satellite provider/nascent content platform DirecTV. While there's still no official word as of this posting, it does look like FNL fans can break open the Bollinger...
Stay tuned.
