Ouch.
FOX has shut down production indefinitely on midseason drama New Amsterdam, which stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Wimbledon)--playing an immortal NYC police detective--and Zuleihka Robinson (Rome).
The drama has already filmed seven episodes and, according to reports, FOX execs will examine what they have on their hands before making a decision about whether to proceed with the shooting the remaining episodes in New Amsterdam's initial 13-episode order. (Don't hold your breath on that one.)
Decision does seem linked, however, to the recent announcement that the network would cut the episodic order for fellow midseason entry The Return of Jezebel James from 13 to 7 episodes.
Personally, I didn't care a jot for New Amsterdam's mawkish and overwrought pilot and so am not in any way sad to see it go prematurely.

What I'll Be Watching
8 pm: Pushing Daisies.
ABC's groundbreaking new drama Pushing Daisies continues. On tonight's episode ("The Fun in Funeral"), Ned investigates a mysterious death at the Shatz Funeral Home, while Chuck launches a devious plan to invigorate the lives of her aunts, the former Darling Mermaid Darlings, Lily and Vivian.
8 pm: America's Next Top Model.
On tonight's episode ("The Girl Who is Afraid of Heights"), the models learn to pose using a trampoline and later are tossed in the air by figure skaters (seriously), plus participate in a photo shoot atop a building where they must pose as "fashion gargoyles." You can't make this stuff up, people.
9 pm: Bionic Woman.
David Eick's reimagining of classic TV series Bionic Woman, starring Michelle Ryan, continues. On tonight's episode ("Faceoff"), Jamie uncovers a startling revelation about her life expectancy while on a mission to rescue an American doctor in Paraguay.
10 pm: Dirty Sexy Money.
Primetime soap Dirty Sexy Money continues. On tonight's episode ("The Chiavennasca"), Nick and Lisa attempt a romantic getaway to Italy--the location for a convenient rendezvous with a spy who may have information about Dutch's death--but wind up babysitting Karen and Freddy; Letitia admits she has been unfaithful to Tripp during their entire marriage.
