So Long, "Six Degrees"; ABC Replants "Trees"

Looks like maybe you can launch a series on Fridays, after all. That is, if you intend to move it to a better timeslot once one opens up.

ABC has announced that it will move drama Men in Trees from its Friday night timeslot (one of the very worst berths in all of Television Land) to the plum post-Grey's Anatomy timeslot on Thursdays at 10 pm, beginning November 30th.

And a further vote of confidence in the drama, ABC has ordered the back nine episodes of Men in Trees, bumping the series to a full 22-episode season in the process. It's the first full season pickup for a freshman series for Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind Men in Trees, and the third pickup for ABC, which previously announced it had ordered full seasons of Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters. (ABC is still weighing pickups on fellow freshman series The Nine and Help Me Help You.)

So what does that mean for the current holder of the post-Grey's Anatomy timeslot, the struggling drama Six Degrees? Not such good news, I'm afraid. Looks like that series aired its last episode of the year last week (ouch) and isn't anticipated to return to the schedule until January (if at all).

The likelihood of ABC ordering any new installments of the NYC-set drama is slim to none, so Six Degrees fans, make your peace now. It's increasingly looking like we'll never learn what was inside Mae's box after all.

i wonder if I should even bother playing catch up with Six Degrees then? but woohoo for Men In Trees, my new guilty pleasure of the year!

That's sad. I really liked "Six Degrees" but I can't say I'm surprised that it didn't make it. Great cast but the pacing was a little slow.

I saw the "Men in Trees" pilot and thought it was truly awful. I can only hope that it's gotten better since then.

I agree w/Danielle 100% about Six Degrees. I liked it, too. I didn't love it, but there was something that drew me back week after week. I think it was Campbell Scott and his awesome hair. Mmmmmm......

I kinda figured it was doomed from the beginning, so every new ep was like a gift. The sad thing is that ultimately? I don't care what's in May's box. I They phased out that character too much for me too care.

Who wants to see Anne Heche. Forget ABC! I'm furious that Six Degrees is gone! What is wrong with these people! It was a wonderful show and I started to like it more than Grey's Anatomy. ABC, get a clue!

"Six Degrees" was the new drama in my life. I was fascinated at how they were bringing it together. I had a perfect line up "Grey's Anatomy" then "Six Degrees." They broke up a good thing.

I hope they relaunch the series in January. I hope that they are reading these comments.

i am so pissed...i absolutely lovvvved six degrees...it was such a great show and cast...i loved how it all tied together and loved each of the characters...tehy should have had more advertisements for it...i happened to stumble onto it one night and had nvr seen advertisements but ended up loving it

Men in Trees is generic,unoriginal and doesnt have a touching hook. Six Degrees was well written-but it needed to pick up the pace. Its almost like the screenwriters didnt know who to focus on,and still have room for all the people that they want in the six degrees of so and so. You began to care about Mae, but the writers slowly started to show someone else and forget Mae. Need better writing for s TV series that has a 40 minute slot with an end hook that leaves you coming back for more.Personally, I liked six degrees because it started well. The characters involved were 3 dimensional and it let the audience in. Bring it back.

I enjoyed six degrees; but again not suprising that it was put to an end. Day Break was also just cancelled - how can ABC keep doing this! I like picking a show and following it through - it sucks to have to pick up another show, halfway through, b/c the one you like has been cancelled. ABC you are going to be the ones to lose out in the end. NBC here I come!

I enjoyed six degrees. I agree with whoever said it was a good line-up of Grey's and then 6th. Soo disappointing - I also don't like that we get noooo warnings when something is going to be cancelled. My suggestion - if it is going to be cancelled finish off the season and have a decent ending!!

I am so sick of ABC "hooking" us with a new show, and then pulling it off the air.
Guess we will start watching the other networks only!!!

I really liked Six Degrees. Fortunately my DVR just finds it in whatever time slot they shove it into. This week I ended up with Wife Sway as it seems ABC has yanked it yet again. I really liked The Nine too. Last season Invasion was entertaining. Not really well written but it was a fun sci-fi sort of story line. Of course that also got pulled with no ending. Then there was Eyes a couple years ago which was really well written and witty. Cancelled as well!! I really don't know why I bother watching any of these. How do they know who's really watching anyway. Most people record shows. Is there still a "Nielsen family" making decisions for all of us. I knew one of those families once. Scary and very few teeth.

I was upset the first time ABC cancelled Six Degrees, then they bring it back for 2 episodes and tease me and then cancel it AGAIN?? I should of known when I had it on the season pass on tivo and it said no more upcoming episodes! That show had a great cast, the premise was great, and the stories...I agree about the pace! It just needs a lil work ABC PUT IN THE TIME AND BRING BACK SIX DEGREES!!!!!!!

I HATE ABC. I know ratings are immportant. I know it's all about the almighty advertising dollar. But, whatever happened to loyalty? So the 4.6 million of us who actually tuned in for Six Degrees weren't good enough? Thanks, ABC. I won't be tuning in for your next exciting new series, only to be left hanging again.

I agree with the other comments posted. What is up with you ABC? Why do you keep bringing on great shows and then cancel them before they are finished? The success of a network is based on loyal viewers...what ever happened to loyalty TO your viewers? How about if you finish what you start - first it was Day Break and now Six Degrees. As far as I'm concerned - you can keep Men in Trees - it sucks - and so does ABC!

Six Degrees was a wonderful show with a great cast, great original storyline (so refreshing with all the junk out there on TV). I love this show and give it a high 10!!! This show was not given a chance to find a fan base (big enough to satisfy the top brass anyway) it had so much potential and ABC dumps this great show and keeps some other stupid shows-Men in Trees, Wifeswapping,Notes from the underbelly-talk about stupid! Guess I will have to go back to reading books as TV sucks! Please watch the videos on ABC and let ABC know you want this show back.

What is wrong with ABC. Don't they know a great show and cast when they see it. All they care about is quick viewership they do not care if they put crap on TV. Another great show cancelled. Six Degrees was one of my favorites and I was so hooked. Goodbye ABC you totally suck and there is nothing good on your stations now.

I loved the 11 eps of 6º i saw.
It is good to see these many fans here. However i believe that an email or a written letter to ABC from at least hald the fans 2.0 million would do more pressure.
I for one will drop down ABC and turn to other networks.

What's Done is Done: The Eternal Struggle Between Good and Evil on the Season Finale of "Lost"

Every story begins with thread. It's up to the storyteller to determine just how much they need to parcel out, what pattern they're making, and when to cut it short and tie it off. With last night's penultimate season finale of Lost ("The Incident, Parts One and Two"), written by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, we began to see the pattern that Lindelof and Cuse have been designing towards the last five seasons of this serpentine series. And it was only fitting that the two-hour finale, which pushes us on the road to the final season of Lost , should begin with thread, a loom, and a tapestry. Would Jack follow through on his plan to detonate the island and therefore reset their lives aboard Oceanic Flight 815 ? Why did Locke want to kill Jacob? What caused The Incident? What was in the box and just what lies in the shadow of the statue? We got the answers to these in a two-hour season finale that didn't quite pack the same emotional wallop of previous season

In Defense of Downton Abbey (Or, Don't Believe Everything You Read)

The proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating. Which means, if I can get on my soapbox for a minute, that in order to judge something, one ought to experience it first hand. One can't know how the pudding has turned out until one actually tastes it. I was asked last week--while I was on vacation with my wife--for an interview by a journalist from The Daily Mail, who got in touch to talk to me about PBS' upcoming launch of ITV's period drama Downton Abbey , which stars Hugh Bonneville, Dame Maggie Smith, Dan Stevens, Elizabeth McGovern, and a host of others.
